Sign

The Well of Three Features is a location from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Located in Kakariko Village, the Well of Three Features functions as the village's water supply. When Link is a child, the well is in perfect shape and is filled to the brim with water. When Link returns as an adult, however, the Well of Three Features is dried up and the hero later learns that a monster had been sealed at the bottom sometime in the past. The well is situated where the house of the Man Who Could See the Truth once stood.

Story[]

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

After Link awakens Saria, Darunia and Princess Ruto as sages, he finds Sheik at Kakariko Village. When Link approaches the mysterious Sheikah near the Well of Three Features, the invisible monster imprisoned within breaks free and starts causing havoc around the village. After Link is knocked unconcious by the creature, he awakens to learn that the monster went into the depths of the Shadow Temple.

Before giving chase, Link learns the "Song of Storms" from Guru-Guru in the Windmill and travels back in time to his childhood. Returning to Kakariko Village, Link plays the "Song of Storms" for Guru-Guru, which in turn speeds up the Windmill and drains the Well of Three Features in the process. With the well empty, Link climbs to the bottom and enter the cavernous complex below known as the Bottom of the Well. Inside, Link finds the Lens of Truth which allows him to see through illusions around him. This item comes in handy many times from this point forward, particularly in the Shadow Temple.
