"A woodcutter's tool of choice for felling trees. Its formidable weight and uneven balancing make it a slow, inefficient weapon."
Hyrule Compendium

The Woodcutter's Axe is an item in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is an axe used by woodcutter's to cut down trees to obtain Wood. It can also be used as a weapon, though it only has a base attack power of 3 and must be wielded with two-hands, forcing Link to sheathe it to use a shield. Additionally, its strength pales in comparison to the Double Axe which is better suited for both cutting trees and combat. It can fell cuttable trees with a single swing, thus it is primarily useful for cutting trees and obtaining wood, Tree Branches, and Korok Leafs. Link can also use it to fell trees over gaps or Bottomless Bogs to create makeshift bridges.

It is among the first weapons Link can obtain when he wakes up from the Slumber of Restoration. It is implied that all the Woodcutter's Axes on the Great Plateau belong to the Old Man who wields one himself while trying to cut down a tree near the Woodcutter's House which contains another one of these axes inside. The Great Plateau has many Woodcutter's Axe which occasionally respawn when Link returns to the area. Link can also find them near certain Stables. Two appear near Rito Stable in Tabantha Frontier. A Bokoblin in Midla Woods near Hateno Village wields one and Bokoblins will pick one up and use it if it nearby. However it can most commonly be found in the Hyrule Field and West Necluda regions.
