In his second phase, Yuga fires energy balls to damage Link. Link plays Dead Man's Volley with Yuga until he is stunned, at which point Yuga merges into the walls. Princess Zelda informs Link from her portrait that his current weapons cannot damage Yuga, and gifts him with the Bow of Light, which can only be used when Link has merged into the wall. Link must then merge into the wall and fire an arrow at Yuga from the front, and then quickly merge out of the wall and back in behind Yuga, firing another arrow. Yuga will be knocked out of the wall, and Link can damage him normally. Dead Man's Volley will resume, eventually getting more difficult with two energy balls instead of one. The second time Yuga merges into the wall, he will charge at Link. The final time he does so, Yuga will brush off all Light Arrows from the front, and Link needs to fire an arrow in the opposite direction so it will go around the circular room and damage Yuga. After being knocked out of the wall a final time, Yuga will be defeated.

Interestingly, the final battles against Yuga-Ganon is in the complete opposite order as the final battles in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. In the first phase, Yuga-Ganon uses a move set similar to that of Ganon in A Link to the Past, and in the second phase, he uses a move set similar to Agahnim's.

This article is about the boss. For the character, see Yuga.

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

Yuga is a recurring boss in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Yuga is fought three times in total: once as the boss of the Eastern Palace, once in Hyrule Castle, and once in Lorule Castle after fusing with Ganon.

Battles

Eastern Palace

In the first battle, Yuga and Link fight in a circular room with a pit at its center. Yuga fires magical bolts at Link to damage him and merges into the wall to avoid him. In order to damage Yuga, Link must stand across from Yuga and fire an arrow from his bow.

Hyrule Castle

In this battle, Yuga creates two identical clones of himself, and all three merge into the walls and move around to confuse Link. If Link attacks one of Yuga's doubles instead of the real one, the double will transform into a soldier. Link must track the real Yuga's movements through the walls to find which Yuga is real and attack him to deal damage. Repeating this several times causes Yuga's defeat.

Lorule Castle

Yuga after joining with Ganon

In the final battle, Yuga has fused with Ganon and is far more powerful. In his first phase, Yuga will swipe at Link with his trident and occasionally throw it at him to deal damage. Link simply needs to attack him with any of his damage-dealing items to end this phase. Upon Yuga's apparent defeat, he will absorb Princess Hilda and her Triforce of Wisdom, gaining more power.

Yuga joined with Ganon, after stealing the Triforce of Wisdom
