"This island is north of the Isle of Gust, so Zauz the blacksmith must live here."

Zauz's Island is a location from The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. This small island is found in the Northwestern sea and is not initially located on the player's Sea Chart. Linebeck spots the island while exploring the sea and adds it to Link's sea chart. Its only inhabitant is the blacksmith Zauz who owns a house on the nothwestern part of the island.

Story[]

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

Toward the end of the game, Zauz crafts the legendary Phantom Sword, made from the Pure Metals Link must collect. It takes him a while to craft it, so, after giving him the metals, Link receives a letter from Jolene challenging Link to a battle to end their rivalry. After having defeated her, Zauz gives Link the finished Phantom Sword. However, the blade does not have a hilt. Link travels to Mercay Island and talks to Oshus, who merges the Phantom Hourglass with the sword, creating a hilt.

Spoiler warning: Spoilers end here.

Treasure[]

  • On the eastern and western edges of the island, the player can find two stone tiles (two on each side). Link must draw two lines; one that connects the eastern tiles, and one that connects the western tiles. Link must continue to draw the lines until they intersect towards the bottom of the island. If Link digs where the lines meet, he will find a Treasure Chart.
  • Next to Zauz's house is a platform with a Treasure Chest on it. This chest may be reached with a Grappling Hook or by gliding to it with a nearby Cucco. It contains a Wisdom Gem.
